Minister’s Message 25 January
Dear Friends
This Sunday is the final opportunity you have to sign the Call to Alex Johnson as our new team minister. It will be available at church at all services within the united parish – Fossoway at 9.45am, Kinross at 10.30am, Orwell at 10.30am, Portmoak at 3pm and Sunday@7 at 7pm. If your name is not on the Electoral Register you can give your support to the Call by signing the Paper of Concurrence. If you are not able to get to church please contact the Session Clerk or myself and we can add your name.
The Call then goes to the Vacancy Procedure Committee who will consider the numbers who have signed the Call and the Paper of Concurrence and make a recommendation for the Presbytery of Perth to consider at its meeting on Saturday 7th February. On the next two Sundays you will hear an Edict read citing the Congregation to appear before the Presbytery in our interests which gives us the opportunity to speak in favour of the Call if for any reason there is any objection or discussion. If the Call is sustained by the Presbytery, a date for Alex's ordination and induction will be agreed. It is proposed that this take place at Kinross Church at 7pm on Thursday 19th March.
In the meantime Alex will continue as Probationer in the united parish, covering a wide variety of ministry tasks including preaching at Orwell on Sunday mornings. We plan to swap pulpits one Sunday (15th February) so that he can catch up with folks in Kinross. He will also have some time off in early March to prepare for his new post and to move into the Manse at the Crook of Devon. Please keep him and Hazel in your prayers in what will be a busy time and please plan to attend the induction.
Please also keep in your prayers the congregation of St Paul's as they advertise jointly with St James' Dollar for a new priest in charge and we also hope very soon to be able to advertise with KYTHE for the post of Pioneer Youth Minister. These are all significant appointments and as we each play our part as members of the Body of Christ there is the potential for a major impact in the Kinross-shire community in the years ahead.
With all prayerful good wishes,
Alan
Rev. A.D. Reid
