Minister’s Message 22 June
Dear Friends
While teachers and pupils still need to keep it together for another four days, it definitely feels like the end of term. The high school and primary school have entertained us with the school show and P7 production, respectively. Alan Reid, Christine Sime, and I have given assemblies about transitions, fresh starts, and the celebration of this year's accomplishments. And despite it being the rhythm of our education system, it somehow seems to shape our year as well. Stepping Stones held their teddy bears' picnic on Tuesday, Crossfire is off to Lochore for a barbeque on Sunday, and many other groups completely unconnected to young people are heading towards their summer break as well.
And so, we take this time to give thanks. Give thanks for all the hard work that has gone into all the activities of this parish. Give thanks for what God has done amongst us. And give thanks that we can now take a little bit of a break! Over the next two Sundays, this is exactly what we will be doing. This Sunday (22nd) we have our Prize-giving service, highlighting the young people within our church family. We're also taking some time within the service to give thanks for all those who enable the church to continue to serve and reach out in mission to this community. Next Sunday (29th), there will be no service at Kinross Church because the whole parish is making its way to Orwell Church to worship together and hold our Stated Annual Meeting. This is a chance to understand the whole breadth of this new union and share in fellowship across all the worshipping centres.
As befits the summer, these services bring out the joy and celebration of all that God is doing in this place and I look forward to rounding out the school calendar with you all through these services, taking this joy into our summer projects, Debrecen and Family Week, but also into our rest.
Every blessing,
Alex Johnson
