Minister’s Message 21 December

19 Dec 2025

Dear Friends
I look forward to celebrating Christmas with you at one or more of the varied special services
that are planned in Kinross for the coming week.
This Sunday morning (21st) we will focus on telling the story of Christ's birth in word and song
and drama and in the evening there is an opportunity to sing Carols at the Cross at Milnathort at
6pm or to join in praise at Sunday@7.
On Monday evening (22nd) at 6.30pm there is time for quiet reflection and an opportunity to
remember those who will be missing this Christmas.
On Christmas Eve the Crib Service at 4.30pm is an opportunity for all ages to gather to celebrate
the heart of the Christmas story with the children just as the light fades and the candles are lit
and later on the Watchnight Service is at 11.15pm taking us in to Christmas Day itself.
On Christmas morning there is an opportunity to worship at 10.30am before whatever family
gatherings you may have and if you are on your own this Christmas, lunch is being served in the
Church Centre from midday with good company and entertainment.
Similar services are also being held in the other united parish worship centres at Fossoway,
Orwell, Cleish and Portmoak and details of these have been circulated.
Next Sunday (28th) there is a united service in Kinross at 10.30am (no services elsewhere in the
united parish) when we will gather to celebrate in word and song and in more informal
fellowship over refreshments afterwards.
I hope you will feel able to invite friends and neighbours and any visitors you may have with you
to any of these gatherings as we proclaim the Good News that God is with us and pray for the
community in which we are set.
There will be no fresh intimations for the next couple of weeks, so looking forward into the new
year, please note that communion will be celebrated at the close of the morning service on 4th
January in Kinross and please note the arrangements for the sole nominee in the vacancy, Alex
Johnson, to preach on Sunday 11th January at Fossoway at 9.45am and at Orwell at 11.15am.
There will be no service in Kinross that day but it is really important that members from Kinross
are also present to take part in the election at the close of these services. Arrangements for
joining the service and taking part in the election online will be circulated after the festive
season and we will also be looking at arrangements for shared transport.
If Alex is elected, a Call will be available for signing over the two weeks following the 11th and
again it is really important that members and adherents from all over the united parish take time
to participate in that process. For ministers, a Call is a really significant and precious document.
Let me take this opportunity to thank you for your support and encouragement over the past
year with all its ups and downs and to express to each of you my own good wishes for Christmas
and the year to come.
May hope, peace, joy and love be yours in these days.
In Christ,
Alan
