Minister’s Message 11 January
Dear Friends
This Sunday is a very significant day in the life of our united congregation as Alex Johnson
preaches as sole nominee in the vacancy for our second team minister. Above all, please pray
for Alex as he prepares and as he leads us in worship, and pray that the whole united
congregation will be well represented at the services at Fossoway (in person and online) at
9.45am and at Orwell at 11.15am.
There will be no service at Kinross this Sunday morning so please plan which of the other
services you will attend. If you are travelling to Fossoway or Orwell please give yourself plenty
time and share transport as much as possible. If you can, please park at a distance and stride a
couple of streets to the church to allow those with mobility problems to park closer by. You are
asked to note parking guidelines elsewhere in this week's email.
If you are joining online, please use the Zoom link and allow yourself plenty of time before the
service starts – the Zoom meeting will be open from 9.15am. (Please note that if there is more
than one person in a household attending on Zoom, each person will need to log in on a
separate device to cast a vote).
After the service at Orwell, the votes from Fossoway, Orwell and online will be mixed before
counting. Refreshments will be served during the count and then the result will be announced.
If Alex is elected the Call will be made available for signing immediately. It will also be available
at services on the 18th and 25th and at other times by arrangement during the week. As I said in
church last Sunday a Call is a very significant thing for a minister so I include the words here for
you to reflect on as you consider signing it.
“We, members and adherents of the Church of Scotland and of the congregation known as
Kinross-shire, being without a team minister, address this Call to be our minister to you,
Alexander Johnson, of whose gifts and qualities we have been assured, and we warmly invite
you to accept this Call, promising that we shall devote ourselves with you to worship, witness,
mission and service in this parish, and also to the furtherance of these in the world, to the glory
of God and for the advancement of His Kingdom.”
I look forward very much to seeing you on Sunday.
Finally, I have been informed that the exhibition of Ukrainian icons that was on at St Paul's
Church last week will be back this Sunday afternoon between 12 and 4 if any who missed it
would like to go and see it.
With all prayerful good wishes,
Alan
