Prayer Points 18 May
We believe in a God that hears and answers prayer. Why not print this page and use it this week?
Sunday 18 May: Pray for Rev Rosie Frew as she serves as Moderator of the General Assembly this year and for all commissioners to the Assembly including our own Gordon McFarlane and Alex Johnson. Ask God to lead the Church of Scotland through challenging times.
Monday 19 May: The Assembly will today debate the question of Assisted Dying that is also currently before the Scottish Parliament. Pray for grace and wisdom in this controversial matter and pray also for the discussion of governance reports and ecumenical relations.
Tuesday 20 May: As the Assembly considers the report of the Faith Action Programme Leadership Team, the core work of the Church of Scotland will be under scrutiny. Pray for God's inspiration and empowering for His Church in these days.
Wednesday 21 May: The Assembly will today be considering areas of work such as Chaplaincy, CrossReach, the General Trustees and the Guild. Pray for Elish Angiolini who is serving as the Lord High Commissioner this year and, in addition to attending some sessions of the Assembly, undertaking visits to church and community projects across Scotland on behalf of the King.
Thursday 22 May: As the Assembly draws to a close today, pray that commissioners and officials will be renewed in strength and fired with zeal as they return to their parishes.
Friday 23 May: Pray for the family of Marjory Malcolm whose funeral takes place today. She was 101 years old. Pray for all who have suffered bereavement in recent times, that they may know the peace and comfort of God.
Saturday 24 May: Mighty God, in whom we know the power of redemption, you stand among us in the shadows of our time. As we move through every sorrow and trial of this life, uphold us with knowledge of the final morning when, in the glorious presence of your risen Son, we will share in his resurrection, redeemed and restored to the fullness of life and forever freed to be your people.
Amen
