Minister’s Message 4 October

02 Oct 2026

Dear Friends
We have finished our three listening services, the last of the vestry hours were
last week, and today will conclude our Team Shoutouts; these additional
elements that we have introduced into church life over this month have been
an attempt to give space to hear about the activities of this church and to hear
God speak. The intention is not particularly subtle; the hope is that these two
things work in tandem to help us imagine and discern God's calling upon us as
a body. The next step will be the meeting of the Eldership on Wednesday
night, where we will check-in with the progress of our now Presbytery
approved action plan and explore the role of an elder together.
This is all the planned stuff, but the call of the recent services to spend time
listening to God continues. While some of the outcome of that listening will be
intertwined with these plans, much of it will take root within our own lives. It
may begin to draw together like-minded people and be the start of something
new, or it may remain something placed on your heart that is relevant to your
own life. Whether it shapes us as an individual or involves a group of people, I
trust that as the Spirit moves, we will notice the difference within our lives
together as we catch a sense of the Spirit at work in us. In this way, the call to
make space for the voice of God continues, this call to be disciples endures.
I am excited for Wednesday night and I am excited to see what God is doing
within our church, otherwise I wouldn't be a minister, but I'm also excited to
see how prayer leads us onwards in a myriad of unpredictable ways as we
each make space for God.

Every blessing,
Alex Johnson
