Minister’s Message 29 June
Dear Friends
As the schools break up for the summer we enter a different phase in the calendar. Many of our regular church activities have stopped or are winding down for the summer break and many people will be looking forward to a slightly slower pace of life over the coming weeks. Of course, weekly worship continues every Sunday in the parish and I look forward to having time to chat to many of you after services.
If you are getting away for a break, do make a point of joining Christians for worship wherever you go and please take the greetings of Kinross-shire Parish Church with you. If you are not getting away, why not consider worshipping one or two Sundays at Orwell or Fossoway or at the monthly service at Portmoak or Cleish.
A reminder that this Sunday morning we have a united service which will be at Orwell Church at 10.30am. Please share cars wherever possible and 'park and stride' if you can to allow those with mobility problems to park close to the church. There will be no service in Kinross Church and although the service at Orwell cannot be streamed live, it will be recorded and uploaded at lunchtime to YouTube and Facebook for those who cannot be present in person at the church.
On Sunday evening there is the annual Michael Bruce service at Portmoak at 6.30pm commemorating the remarkable but too brief life of the 'Gentle Poet of Loch Leven' some of whose hymns we still sing. The preacher this year will be the Rev Jim Stewart of Letham St Mark's Church in Perth.
Over the summer, please keep two special mission projects in your prayers. A team of 10 departs for Debrecen next Sunday (more about that next week) and the Family Week team are already well-advanced in preparations for the first week of August when we trust that perhaps 150 children and young people from our community will gather each day at the church to hear the Good News about Jesus Christ who is the same yesterday, today and forever.
Yours because His,
Alan
