Minister’s Message 28 September

26 Sep 2025

Dear Friends,

This Sunday is our Harvest Thanksgiving service, led by Robert Calvert. This is a seasonal celebration tied to the gathering in of the grain. As we are a parish surrounded by farms, we have seen this process unfold, maintaining our links with the land even if many of us are more in tune with the M90 than the fields. This time of harvest speaks of a year-round truth, that the labour of God and humanity unite to bless the world. The world of farming reminds us that everything depends on the providence of God, that we are blessed by the miracle of life that happens almost independently of us. It also reminds us, as we see the tractors driving around town, that we too play our part in blessing the world.

You are invited to bring non-perishables to church, to be given to Broke Not Broken as a harvest offering. Alternatively, donations of money for Broke Not Broken are also welcome. You can put money in the offering plate by placing it an envelope marked “Broke Not Broken” or via the online link found in the intimations.

It is a busy weekend for the church diary, with the market and Messy Church on Saturday and morning worship, the monthly service at Portmoak, and Sunday@7 all happening this Sunday. Plenty to get your teeth into across the parish, all with harvests worth celebrating.

Every blessing,

Alex Johnson
