Minister’s Message 27 September
Dear Friends
When I say 'I hope you've been listening' I mean it in the context of what we have
been doing in our Sunday services over the past couple of weeks. I know that
some of you have particularly appreciated the quiet spaces we have had in the
midst of worship recently and I hope that the reflections on knowing the sound of
the Good Shepherd's voice and on stilling ourselves to receive the promises of
God have prompted you to be open to God's leading at this time.
This Sunday we will be thinking about what it is that God is sending us as His
followers to do in our community and in the other places we each spend our time
from week to week. Let's listen for what we may each be called to at this time as
individuals and also for what God is asking us to do together as a Church for the
sake of the Kingdom of God.
I hope that you are enjoying hearing about the work of the various Teams that
oversee the work of the congregation – we will be continuing these presentations
this week and next – and that perhaps your interest has been sparked by
something in particular that you might get behind in some way in the coming
year.
So when I say 'I hope you've been listening' what Alex and Monica and I are
interested to discover is what you have been hearing. What is God saying to us as
a united congregation at this stage in our journey together? What is God asking of
you in particular? On 7thOctober the whole eldership of Kinross-shire Parish is
holding one of its quarterly meetings when we will be thinking about how to take
forward the Five Year Action Plan that the Presbytery asked us to develop. Each of
the Teams has areas of work to focus on and we are beginning to think about how
each of these exciting opportunities will be taken forward. We are keen to listen
to anything that you feel you have to suggest in the shaping of the life of your
Church. (That means you!)
We value your ideas, we value your prayers, we value your support, and we value
offers of help. We are listening too.
