Minister’s Message 26 July
While things have been a mite 'bitty' over the summer (as they are wont to
be), there has been some continuity since we have left the book of James
behind. On 24th June, the eldership met to look at the mission of our parish,
seeking to'raise our gaze' and seek after the presence of God. Since then, we
have had various events take place, the trip to Debrecen, MAF coming to
speak in Kinross, Magnitude festival at Lendrick Muir this week, and soon we
will have our own Family Week. In Fossoway, Robert Calvert spoke about
Abraham's servant, sent to a faraway land to find a wife for Isaac, wholly
dependent on the guidance of God. With the all-age team picking up that
same story in Orwell. After that, I wrestled with Saul, ever seeking after God
but often in a misguided way. Then, Kathy Dain spoke of Jacob's 'roundabout'
the pause as we seek after God's direction. In all these things, we are lifting
our eyes to see what God is doing.
A mite bitty, for sure, but as is so often the case, a joyful vision emerges from
this wonderful kaleidoscope. Why? Because God is already working all around
us and we are taking the time to tune in. I am eager to hear how the
pilgrimage went yesterday, to get to know Monica as she starts as our Ministry
Associate this coming week. Eager to simply enjoy the array of colours found
in the life of this parish. Will you join me in this joy and celebrate this 'bitty'
summer?
