Minister’s Message 20 July
Dear Friends
Firstly, may I thank you all for your prayerful support of the Debrecen Team during our recent summer mission trip. The Scottish Camp (as it is called) went very well and it is planned that the team will share a short report with some pictures during the morning service this Sunday.
This is also a good reminder that the Magnitude Christian Youth Festival begins this weekend at Lendrick Muir and will be drawing hundreds of young people from all over Scotland to what for many will be a life-changing encounter with the living God. A good number from KYTHE will be attending and there are still opportunities to offer support through cooking, baking or transport – see this week's Intimations for details.
Of course our own Family Week in Kinross is fast approaching and there are also needs still to be met – we are looking for old newspapers for crafts and if you could help making some of the scenery see details in the Intimations. Do encourage family, friends and neighbours to register for Family Week by following this link - https://www.kinrossparishchurch.org/news/notices/family-week-registration – and above all pray for the children and young people who will attend and for the many members of our congregation and other local churches who are part of the team.
Just to update you, the Kirk Session met this week to continue the work of establishing the structures of the new union. There is a lot being done to co-ordinate what is happening across the three worship centres, to develop a more efficient use of resources and to develop new areas of work as we seek to make Christ known across Kinross-shire. The Nominating Committee reported that the Parish Profile is almost finalised and when that is approved next month, advertising will begin for the post of second full-time minister. Keep that important work in your prayers.
Finally, I bring greetings from the Great Church in Debrecen, where I had the privilege of preaching a fortnight ago, and from St Columba's Scots Kirk in Budapest where the team worshipped last Sunday on our way home from Debrecen. If you have visitors over the summer, do please encourage them to come to church with you and when you are away please worship with local Christians wherever you go.
We are all one in Christ Jesus.
