Minister’s Message 18 October

16 Oct 2026

Dear Friends
I want to mention a couple of things this week that remind us that we belong to
something bigger than our own local church.
Firstly, thanks to all who contributed to the special offering during September
for the work of Intogether Church, the Presbytery of Perth's mission initiative
working with families where a child has additional support needs. We have
heard from Lynsey Paterson, the project worker, who writes “on behalf of all
involved with InTogether to say a massive thank you for the generosity of the
congregation of Kinross-shire Parish Church. We have been so humbled by
your giving.” She reports that the total gifted was £975.00 and that with Gift
Aid declarations signed they will benefit to the tune of £1,218.75. She has
mentioned, however, that they have had a problem with the online Gift Aid
forms and are asking that those who gave money and completed a Gift Aid
declaration could please complete a new form by going to

At its meeting on Wednesday evening the Kirk Session agreed to continue our
partnership with Intogether Church for the next three years and to contribute
£1,500 annually as well as committing to pray regularly as a congregation for
their work. We will have updates from them occasionally and hopefully
develop our partnership as they develop their ministry.
And secondly, let me encourage you to join in the Church of Scotland's
National Day of Prayer on Saturday 31 st October on the theme of Light in the
Darkness. There will be opportunities to visit a prayer space at Fossoway from
10.30-11.30am, at Kinross from 2.30-3.30pm or at Orwell from 7.30-8.30pm
where there will be activities to take part in individually and a short act of
worship during the hour to join with others. Alternatively you can join a live-
streamed service from West Kilbride Parish Church at 11am or join a national
online prayer gathering led by the Moderator of the General Assembly at 4pm
that day. Further details can be found at
https://cos.churchofscotland.org.uk/worship/prayer/day-of-prayer including a
map of congregations taking part across the country. I hope that you will plan
to be a part of this a week on Saturday.
With all prayerful good wishes,
Alan
