Minister’s Message 18 January

16 Jan 2026

Dear Friends

Last Sunday was a big day in the life of our united parish. It was lovely to see so many from the various corners of the parish coming together for worship at Fossoway and at Orwell or joining the service that was streamed on Zoom and to have over 200 people voting in the election overwhelmingly in support of Alex.

The Call to Alex will be available for signing at church the next two Sundays and at the Kinross church office during opening hours (Monday, Tuesday and Friday 9am-12noon). We will also try and have it at church groups meeting during the week. If your name is not on the Electoral Register you are welcome to sign the Paper of Concurrence which supports the Call. If you are unable to sign in person you may ask the Session Clerk to add your name to either the Call or the Paper of Concurrence.

The Call needs to be sustained by the Presbytery of Perth but discussions are already underway in regard to the timescale for the service of Ordination and Induction. These depend on the availability of the Moderator of the Presbytery and the time it will take for Alex and Hazel and the family to arrange to move into the Manse at the Crook of Devon. It is planned that the service will be in Kinross Church. We'll keep you posted when details are confirmed, but in the meantime you can play your part by signing the Call.

Over the next few weeks we will be taking a look at the Book of Ruth from the Old Testament. It is a lovely story with some important themes and thought-provoking lessons. If you have the opportunity, why not sit and read it through – it will only take you 15-20 minutes.

Please keep in your prayers those who mourn – the families and friends of Jo McMurtrie, Hugh Dobson and Heather Ross. May they know the peace and comfort of God at this time of loss.

With all prayerful good wishes

Alan
