Minister’s Message 15 June

13 Jun 2025

Dear Friends

Looking ahead to the next few weeks, we will have our end of term prizegiving service on 22 June. We hope to have a bookstall in church that day with a variety of books available for purchase so please come prepared to browse what will be on sale.

The following Sunday (29 June) there will be a united service at Orwell Church at 10.30am following which the Stated Annual Meeting of the united congregation will be held. Although this is a formal meeting, which is required as part of Charity Law, the formalities will be kept to a minimum and we will also focus on recognising those elders who are stepping back after many years of service. Can I encourage you to share transport and, if you are fit and able, to park at a distance and walk up to the church. The service will not be streamed live but a recording will be available to view on YouTube and Facebook by about lunchtime.

Finally may I say a word of thanks to you for your prayerful support and the expressions of good wishes on the occasion of the death of Christine's mother, Maisie, last week. It means a lot to know that we are being upheld by many at the moment.

I am particularly conscious that there are many others in our church family facing bereavement at this time, so please also keep them in your prayers. The funeral of Eleanor Gordon was on Thursday past; the funeral of Ken McKillop is this Tuesday (17th) at 2pm in Kinross Church; the funeral of David Fraser (which will also incorporate a memorial service for his wife Alice who died just a few weeks ago) is on 24 June at 1pm in Kinross Church; and the funeral of Ruth MacCalman is on 25 June at 3pm at Orwell Church. Others of you have also suffered bereavements in recent months and I know that the journey of grief can be a long and winding one, mixed up as it is with the many practical things that have to be attended to at the same time. Be assured of the prayerful support of others in the church family – you are not alone.

With all prayerful good wishes.

Alan
