Minister’s Message 1 November

30 Oct 2026

We met across the parish yesterday to join with people "praying for the light of
Jesus to transform our Church, our communities across Scotland, and the
places around the world where the Church worships and serves." (Church of
Scotland, 'Light in the Darkness'). In so doing, we demonstrated not only our
belief in the power of prayer but also the theme of All Saints Day, which tells us
that "if we ever feel outnumbered, [let us] remember that we never get to see the
whole church." (Kate Tristram in Celtic Daily Prayer: Book 1) By joining in with
campaigns such as 'Light in the Darkness' and many others, we are invited
understand that the church is bigger than us; that when we pray and when we
worship our voices are combined with all the saints on earth and in heaven.
This is a frame of mind we are familiar with, worshipping as we do in many
locations and at many times during the week as a parish, and this realisation tells
a story of God's faithfulness for generations. It carries with it the inspiration of the
good that comes with God's Kingdom, a goodness that I hope each one of us has
known. So, as we meet in Fossoway, Kinross, and Orwell to worship this morning,
see if you can sense the lingering vibrations of praise from the worship of all the
saints across every realm, proclaiming "Praise and glory and wisdom,
thanksgiving and honour, power and might, be to our God for ever!" (Revelation
7:12)

Every blessing
