Minister’s Message 1 March
Dear Friends,
After a very long period of discussion and discernment we have finally
reached the position of agreeing the terms and job description for a Pioneer
Youth Minister for Kinross-shire and the post has now been advertised. (The
advert can be viewed here: https://bta.current.jobs/job/pioneer-youth-minister-
kythe-511.aspx)
This appointment is a collaboration between Kinross-shire Parish Church and
KYTHE and is funded (for 2 years initially) through the Church of Scotland
Seeds for Growth Fund, which supports mission to those under the age of 40.
Over the last 10 years KYTHE has developed a very wide ranging ministry
which spans the provision of universal youth services on behalf of Perth and
Kinross Council to the support of those young people who wish to explore the
Christian faith for themselves. At the same time the work of local churches
through such things as Family Week, Crossfire, Sunday@7 and Alpha Youth
has led to a growing number of young people who wish to deepen their faith
but for some of whom the church traditions and style that are precious to
many older people can be more of a hindrance than a help on their
discipleship journey. The appointment of a Pioneer Youth Minister is designed
to straddle the work of KYTHE and all the local churches to help young people
in our community find a place within the Body of Christ.
Perhaps, in God's timing, this new appointment, coming as it does just as our
Team Ministry in Kinross-shire parish is established and as St Paul's
Episcopal Church is also looking for a new minister, opens doors for all of us
to grow in faith and to widen our fellowship which Christians of all ages.
Please feel free to make this position known to anyone you think might be
interested and please pray for those from KYTHE and from the local churches
who this time next month will be involved in considering applications and, we
trust, making an appointment.
With all prayerful good wishes,
Alan
Revd A D Reid
