General Assembly
The General Assembly of the Church of Scotland is currently
underway, from Friday15th to Monday18th May. This is a new, shorter format designed to save money and to
make it easier for those of working age or with family responsibilities to attend.
The new Moderator for 2025-26 is Revd. Gordon Kennedy, parish minister of Craiglockhart Parish Church,
Edinburgh. The Lord High Commissioner – the King's representative – is Lady Eilish Angiolini for her second
year. Revd. Alan Reid is not only a 'commissioner' from the Presbytery of Perth but also the Assembly's
'Precentor' this year, leading the singing for the daily worship.
Full details of the business of the Assembly are available on the Church of Scotland website. Anyone may
attend to observe – enter the Assembly Hall from the Lawnmarket.
