Appointment of Ministry Associate
Monica Mochar appointed to Kinross-shire Parish Church
The Basis of Union that led to the formation of a Team Ministry for Kinross-shire Parish Church provided for a locally-funded part-time appointment to complement the two full-time parish ministers. It was agreed that this appointment would be made after the vacancy for the second parish minister was filled and so after Alex's induction, steps were taken to draw up a job description for a ministry associate and to undertake recruitment for this post. It was felt that this person might or might not be an ordained minister.
Following an interview process, the Kirk Session is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs Monica Mochar as part-time Ministry Associate for Kinross-shire Parish Church for three years in the first instance. She will begin work at the end of July.
Monica has been active in the Church of Scotland all her adult life and has experience of a wide range of church activities. From a background in Planning, she later trained as a counsellor and has worked for a number of years in private practice, a role she will continue part-time alongside this post. She brings gifts in pastoral care and listening, group facilitation and creative arts and she looks forward to strengthening, supporting and equipping groups across the united parish as well as developing alternative forms of worship and fresh expressions of church and the exploration of spirituality and faith with those who do not currently attend church.
The role to which Monica has been appointed is expected to develop over the coming months and years and we look forward very much to all that she will bring to our life as a united congregation.
