Guild Anniversary – 135 years!
Updated 23 February
Evening meetings of the Guild resume at 7pm in the Church Centre on 5 March, full details listed below. New members or guests always welcome.
The Guild of Kinross Parish Church celebrated its 135-year anniversary in December – one of the oldest Guilds in the Church of Scotland. Members gathered for afternoon tea and welcomed the Guild’s National Convener, Rae Lind, and her husband George, along with the minister of Kinross, Rev Alan Reid.
Rae gave a short talk on the history of the Guild in Perth and Kinross where there were 45 Guilds on the 100th Centenary in 1987 of the founding of the Guild. She also said that membership of the Guild nationally was rising again. This has been reflected in Kinross which has welcomed ten new members who have never been to Guild before, including two men.
Enid Campbell, one of the leadership team at Kinross Guild, says: ‘We would welcome more members, including ‘younger people’ – age is not a barrier.
