GREETINGS FROM THE MANSE - SUNDAY 17 MAY 2020 (with link to worship service )

Posted on: May 17, 2020

In these days of lockdown and isolation, it is good to remember that we are part of the church, and if you are able to join others from Kinross Parish Church for a gathering by Zoom at 11.15 on a Sunday morning, I hope you will do so, or perhaps pick up the phone and call someone you might normally have spoken to at church.

But we are part of the church not only locally here in Kinross but across the land and indeed across the world. This week, the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland should have been taking place, and this afternoon, Princes Street Gardens in Edinburgh would have been ringing with the happy sounds of the Heart & Soul gathering that in previous years has drawn people from all over Scotland and beyond. Although the Assembly is not taking place, a virtual Heart & Soul will be broadcast from 2-4pm on the Church of Scotland website and on the Facebook page. Do look in on that if you are able.

The new Moderator, the Rev Dr Martin Fair of Arbroath: St Andrew's, was officially installed at an online service yesterday and some of that service will be shown as part of the Heart and Soul broadcast this afternoon. On Sunday 31st May, Pentecost Sunday, he will lead a Sunday morning service for the whole national church which, like other local congregations, we will be making available in place of our locally produced service that week. We expect that you will be able to access it in the same way as you have been accessing our own services week by week.

Meanwhile, do please keep in touch with us and let us know how you are getting on. Keep sending in pictures which we can include in our Sunday services – it really helps to bind us together.

With all prayerful good wishes,

Rev. A.D. Reid
