ARMISTICE CENTENARY -100 years since the end of the Great War will be commemorated in Kinross-shire

Posted on: September 9, 2018

To mark the 100th anniversary of the Armistice, a series of events will be taking place in Kinross as part of a national commemoration. Details will be published nearer the time in the Kinross Community Newsletter, on this Website and in our Intimations.

On Remembrance Sunday 11 November, the pipes will be played by Alan McGhie and Robin Webster early in the morning, marking the time the Armistice was actually signed. The United All-Age Remembrance Service will be held in the church at 10am, followed by the Act of Remembrance at the town’s war memorial at 10.55am. Morning Worship will be at 11.15am. The evening service  at 6pm will be a special reflective service, including the playing of the Last Post and the ringing of the church bell to coincide with national commemorations.

Look out for 10 metal silhouettes of soldiers which will be sited around the church and town centre, thanks to the Armed Forces Covenant Trust. Kinross Parish Church has also agreed to a request to make our church grounds available as a Garden of Remembrance.
