LOVEscripture

On Sunday, 11th December the final focus for Biblefresh year, LOVEscripture, was part of the morning service.
The Bible has come alive for many people in a new way during 2011 through E100, the Readathon, the People’s Bible and indeed as part of the worship of the church.  Many took part in the Service and encouraged us in our personal Bible reading.

LIVEscripture

was at 6.30pm on Sunday 30th October.

It took the form of a chat show hosted by our own Brenda Fraser
 with special guests:-

Warren and Stroma Beattie, who work with
Overseas Missionary Fellowship in Singapore,

Colin McKerracher, Chief Constable of Grampian Police

Tim Sinclair, a young trainee stock-broker from Glasgow.

If you would like a CD of the very interesting discussion that took place contact Ewan Cathcart

THE PEOPLE’S BIBLE

Our next exciting opportunity in this anniversary year was to link up with a amazing project to write a Bible in people’s own hand - 2 verses each to produce a Bible on the web with a printed copy presented to the Queen on the 16th of November this year (16/11 was the year the ‘King James’ translation being pulished) There are opportunities to write 2 verses for this Bible at various places throughout Scotland, England and Wales, London, Cardiff, Glasgow, Edinburgh and KINROSS! Our big date was Sunday 24th July in David Sands Carpark.

READATHON

On Friday 10th and Saturday 11th June, the complete New Testament was read in the church over 24 hours (12 hours per day) and broadcast to the Station Road entrance by loudspeaker. Not only the whole New Testament, but the Teenagers and friends/parents read the Gospel of Mark from The Message version. The Project was to draw attention to the 400th Anniversary of the Bible ‘King James’ of Authorised translation of 1611, and for an opportunity to give support to provide a translation of the Bible for people in Burkina Faso through the Scottish Bible Society.
